Q1. Do I really need to take a breastfeeding class? Breastfeeding is natural right?

A:  Breastfeeding is a natural process when you have an understanding of the process. New mothers often misunderstand the process. We are a bottle feeding culture. Therefore, we have been visually conditioned to see milk (liquid) come out a bottle. You now think when you have a baby, liquid know as milk is going to come pouring out. WRONG. When you see no liquid (milk) coming out your breast you think you have no milk. WRONG. You have been watching and learning from a bottle feeding culture.

Q2: My friend said she did not make enough milk. What if I do not make enough milk?

A. First, your friend more than likely received her knowledge from a bottle feeding culture and not a how to nurse your baby class. Second, that statement is fear based. God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14). God also, says my people perish for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).  Women who do not take a class to learn about the unique process of breastfeeding often assume incorrectly

  1. She does not have enough milk because on day one no liquid is coming out nor will she be able to pump it out.
  2. Her breast often will feel soft on day 1-2.
  3. Baby will want to nurse frequently on day
